David P. Ryan
Dave leads the Health Sector business at Intel’s IoT Group. His business enables the global health & life sciences device industry with compute & communications platforms to transform care at the edge. He recently joined the HIMSS’ Personal Connected Health Alliance board of managers and has spoken worldwide on the challenges and opportunities in an aging world – including at United Nations, OECD, national ministerial events and Asia HIMSS.
Previously, he created and launched Intel’s China HLS unit that pioneered new solutions across the national healthcare and life sciences ecosystem and partnered with government to support national health and aging initiatives. He was elected to the American Chamber of Commerce’s China Health Cooperation Program Steering Committee. From his base in Beijing, Dave led the build-out of the company's worldwide Age Friendly Initiative, including a piece he authored calling for a new social contract across ages published in the AARP International Journal.
Across his 33 years at IBM and Intel, Dave has held a range of leadership roles focused on launching new technologies and businesses worldwide. He founded multiple internal ventures and served as the commercial GM of Intel’s Biochip Operation. Previously, he led the expansion of Intel’s European software unit into Russia and the Middle-east, created the ‘business lab’ inside the company’s research group and led the company’s mobile platform market entry.
Dave holds a B.S. Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University, an M.B.A. from Pennsylvania State University, is a Wharton Fellow and is an executive MBA guest lecturer on corporate venturing. He is Chairman of the Board for a worldwide non-profit dedicated to improving infant care (www.RIE.org) and is a member of the Board of Governors of a veteran’s organization dedicated to honoring and preserving the history of the small carrier group (ECSAA.org). He lives in Sacramento, California with his wife and daughter.
